St John’s First School Nursery

St John’s Nursery welcomes all children from 2 years of age from Bishops Wood and the surrounding area.   We have friendly, experienced staff who provide a well-balanced curriculum, within a safe, secure, friendly and stimulating environment. 



Registered with Ofsted, the Nursery is located in it's own self-contained mobile unit, which complies with all building, fire and Ofsted regulations. 

The Nursery is fee paying, however from the beginning of the term after your child’s third birthday you may apply for up to five Government funded sessions of 2½ hours per week.

We operate as a non-profit-making group run by a voluntary managed committee. Our Nursery Manager is a qualified NNEB Nursery Nurse with several years experience in various childcare settings and our Deputy Nursery Manager is a qualified NNEB Nursery Nurse with several years experience in various childcare settings.

Nursery is open during term time as follows:-

    Morning Session (Monday to Friday)                       9.00am to 12.30pm

       Afternoon Session (Monday to Thursday)         12.30pm to 3.00pm

The children have many opportunities to take part in art and crafts activities, music, dance, role play and imaginative play activities, and they have ample opportunities and an attractive, safe and secure environment for outdoor play. Activities are designed to fulfill the requirements of The Early Years Foundation Stage, a statutory framework which sets out the legal requirements for learning and development and the welfare of children from birth to 5 years of age. They include a mixture of self-initiated activities and structured learning programmes, including enrichment challenges. 

We believe that a strong partnership with parents and carers is essential to promote the learning and development of the children and we welcome any help or feedback. Our aim is that St John’s First School Nursery should also form an integral part of the community with strong links and involvement with other local organisations.
