St John's Church

St John’s First School maintains a strong and meaningful partnership with our local church, with regular visits taking place throughout the academic year. These include key Christian celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, and Harvest Festival, as well as special occasions including St John’s Day, the Leavers’ Service, our Bible-giving ceremony for new Reception pupils, and curriculum-linked visits to enhance learning about our local church and its role within the community.

St John the Evangelist - A Church Near You

The local church provides invaluable support to our school in a variety of ways. This includes contributing to the teaching of Religious Education, facilitating Prayer Space events, and supporting both Collective and Pupil-Led Worship throughout the year. At Easter, Year 4 pupils each receive a small Easter bag from the church, containing resources and activities focused on the Easter story. At Christmas, members of the congregation visit the school to help pupils make Christingles, which are then used during a special church service that families are warmly invited to attend.

St John’s First School is proud to work in partnership with the Lichfield Diocesan Board of Education, which supports our ongoing development as an academy and strengthens our distinctively Christian character.

We believe that the close relationship between the school and the church provides a firm foundation for life in our rural community. Through working together, we aim to preserve and nurture the warm, supportive, and inclusive spirit that characterises our beautiful village.
