Christmas at St John's
Christmas at St John’s First School
At St John’s First School, we celebrate Christmas in many special ways. The children learn about the true meaning of Christmas—the story of Jesus’ birth and why it is important to Christians.
Throughout the season, the children take part in many activities that help them understand and enjoy this celebration, including:
-
Performing nativities, telling the story of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.
-
Singing carols that share the message of peace, joy and hope.
-
Taking the travelling crib home, giving families a quiet moment to think about the Christmas story together.
-
Making Christingles, thinking about Jesus as the Light of the World.
-
Working with families and our church community to share in the joy and meaning of Christmas.
All these activities help the children to understand why Christmas is such an important time for Christians, and they bring our school community together in celebration.
